Who I help

When the old wounds are running the show

Most of the people I see are not struggling because something is wrong with them. They are carrying something that was done to them, or not done for them, and it keeps showing up in how they feel and who they let close. I work with adults only.

Depression

The heaviness that makes ordinary days feel like work, and the sense that you should be over it by now.

Anxiety

A mind that will not switch off, the waiting for the other shoe to drop, and the tiredness that comes with it.

Trauma and PTSD

Especially trauma tied to abandonment, rejection and attachment: the patterns that follow you from one relationship to the next.

Addiction and recovery

Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor with training in medication-assisted treatment (MAT).

How I work

The truth, told with care

"I listen, and I tell you the truth. The truth built on facts, not beliefs. Treatment works when everyone in the room is honest."

I take you as you are and where you are. You bring the willingness to look at what is really happening. I bring 25 years of evidence-based practice and a plan that gets reviewed honestly, all the way through to the day you no longer need me.

Approaches I use

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Choice Theory and Reality Therapy
  • Rational Self-Analysis
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

About Andrew

25 years of helping people find their footing

Andrew Beavers is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arkansas and Georgia and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor. His education spans a Master's in Counseling from Mercer University, a Master's in Addictive Behaviors from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, and a law degree from the University of Arkansas.

In his words

I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds on various mental health issues, including common disorders such as depression and anxiety. I have helped many clients address mental health challenges and find relief from their symptoms. My primary focus is understanding each client’s perspective, providing therapeutic support, and helping them develop effective coping mechanisms. Clients may initially feel apprehensive about engaging in therapy. The therapeutic process typically involves three stages: beginning, active participation, and completion. Therapy requires effort and a commitment to change.

Change is not always easy. I take pride in helping people reduce fear and gain a sense of accomplishment and empowerment. Life can be difficult and messy, but a professional relationship focused entirely on you and your goals can feel special. Together, we can explore the meaning you find in the experiences that shape your life.

I am passionate about mental health and client education because I believe knowledge is empowering. My therapeutic approach combines evidence-based treatments, current research, and best practices with compassion and empathy. I take time to understand each client’s unique needs and work collaboratively with them to explore treatment options which support their goals and overall well-being.

When we are fortunate, we learn from life’s challenges and move forward. Life’s challenges can help us grow, but they can also leave us feeling stuck. Wherever you are in your journey, I will meet you there and support you as you take meaningful steps forward.
